Vale Norman (Norm) Stanton

It is with excessive sorrow that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Norman Stanton, this last weekend. Norm was one the world’s nicest gentlemen, a great cricketer and a man who played the game in the right spirit. An extremely supportive person of all people and a guiding light to many in the Southern Highlands Veterans Cricket fraternity. This picture shows how encouraging Norm was as he promoted the first game that Port Jackson played at Lackey Park.

Norm was always engaging, a fine batsman and a former Chairman of VCNSW 70s. He played the game like he spent his life, with a smile and never a bad word about anyone.

I know that I speak for many of us all in the Veterans Cricket Community when I say I will miss you Norm, we will all miss you and God bless and our thoughts are with you family at this terrible time.

Southern Highlands Veterans named the Cricket Pavilion at Chater Oval after Norm, the NORM STANTON PAVILION. I also know that they had him down to play in the game today, and decided to leave him in the team; a wonderful touch and I wish I could have been there to say farewell to one of the nicest men I have met on a cricket field anywhere on the planet. I hope you get a chance to caress them up there Norm.

VALE NORMAN (NORM) STANTON

May you rest in peace
