Match Report

Port Jackson Red 9 / 233 (Howard / 62 no – Schwager / 39 – Hall / 30 – Frost 23 no)

Defeated

Central Coast Cyclones all out 202 (Allsop 2/26 – Frost 2/41 – Craig 2/30)

Toss won by Central Coast who sent PJ’s in for a bat.

A more than competitive total was set on what was a lightning quick outfield and fantastic batting wicket. PJs started off with a burst which was slowed down by some good middle over bowling, but the momentum allowed for a total that was always going to be a difficult chase against a very mobile fielding team accompanied by bowlers who had bowled tight and to their field over the 3 days.

In the end after a very solid start by the Cyclones the pressure built, and wickets started to come with some good chances taken and a couple of great run outs that changed the tone of the game.

In the end with 9 an over needed and the bowling consistent the final wickets fell and the trophy was to spend some time in the PJ’s cabinet.

Congratulations to all the players involved and the selectors for all their hard work in finding available players for the tournament. Once again, I was lucky to skipper a fantastic group of guys who not only enjoyed their cricket but also meeting new teammates and many players from the opposition that will remain friends for many years to come.

To Central Coast and the Tuggerah sports complex, what a well drilled event on amazing wickets and outfields throughout the 3 days.

Also, a big thankyou to all the Umpires over the tournament who also did a fantastic job.

All in all, a very proud moment for the PJ’s Red squad to be able to take out Div1 and the PJ’s Blue Squad to reciprocate by taking out the Div 2 Shield.

Thanks again.

Michael Hall PJs Captain
